September- Just Jamming
September has suddenly come upon us. Gone are the days where all we’re worried about is if it’ll be sunny and whether we’re going on a better holiday than our friends. According to a recent survey 70% of you will be spending more than £50 on taking your kids back to school. This is not, as I’m sure you’re thinking, spent on uniforms and books, but on new outfits and haircuts for the school run. Which led me to thinking, if we’re prepared to give our money to Laura and Ashley and Toni and Guy, why not instead give it to Lesley and Derek.
Raydale Preserves is a family run business established by husband and wife team Lesley and Derek Kettlewell in 1978. Set in the heart of the Yorkshire Dales on the family farm in the valley of Raydale.
Raydale make all of their products on site in a converted farm building keeping to traditional ways. Everything is handmade in small batches to keep everything to the highest standards, the fruit is even picked by hand! Apart from the oranges (which come from Seville- where else?) all fruits are sourced from a farm in North Yorkshire. This (along with the fact they are lovely people) is why during September many of the delights you’ll see on the shelves and fridges of Haley & Clifford will contain their products. From the freshly made sandwiches containing an array of their chutneys to cakes and scones filled with their award winning jams and marmalades (of which they have many!!) For those of you who are free this Saturday- 6th (there’s no football on so I can’t see what else you’ll be doing), Andrew will be visiting Haley & Clifford with a vast selection of his parents’ products for you to try. He will be around to field any questions you may have as well as being able to give you an insight into how Raydale Preserves work. And think how much jam and chutney you could buy for that £50- a lot better value than spending it with Laura or Ashley or Toni or Guy
So, if, unlike me, you like to keep your relationship with your local takeaway low-key, pop down to Haley and Clifford where all your culinary needs will be taken care of.
