February/March- Spring Watch
I slept like a log last night… I woke up in a fireplace… Right, I think that sets the tone as well as fulfilling my need to share terrible jokes. It maybe half term and you have multiple children crawling all over you, however, in the world of man you can almost hear the huge sense of relief that the dreaded Valentine’s Day is over. The last minute trip to the garage for flowers has been long forgotten. That is, unless you are the man I met by the Valentine’s card section. The aforementioned chap grabbed the nearest card ( my darling wife variety) announced that it didn’t matter which one he bought as ‘it wouldn’t be the right one anyway’ lectured me on how it was all a load of nonsense, paid and left. What he didn’t notice was that he’d swayed into the birthday section! So you sir, are most certainly in the doghouse.
Fortunately, the next two commercial landmarks are Mother’s Day and Easter, so if you, like me, love your mother and chocolate it’ll be a breeze. Here at Haley & Clifford we can make it that little bit easier. Mother’s Day breakfast treats include bacon sandwiches, eggs (poached or scrambled ), as well as a variety of pastries, or there is fresh fruit and porridge for the health brigade-and a good many of these can be taken away.
Willie Wonka would be proud of the selection of chocolate on offer. From giant cupcakes filled with treats to Lauden’s high quality chocolate selection, and not forgetting the chocolate houses for the kids (self-assembly and pre-made). Michelle (small Irish buying lady) will, I’m sure, have some little treats on offer as well, so keep your eyes open!!
On the building front, some of you may have heard a fair bit of banging and presumed it was James’ head on the wall but in fact the builders have almost completed the extension. Unfortunately, this does mean the deli will be shut from the 2nd March for a week, re opening on the 9th March. There are all sorts of planned changes but I’ll leave it as a surprise for you (plus they’ve changed so many times whatever I tell you will almost certainly be wrong by the time we reopen!). So stock up on all our goodies to keep you going for the week we’re closed, and we’ll see you on the 9th.
