We stock a handpicked range of wines - different to anything you’ll find in the supermarket or in major wine shops. Our wine merchant can give help and advice and regularly does wine tastings for us in the shop. We are happy to supply cases or single bottles and our current range is:

Jackson Red Hill South Semillon Chardonnay The classic Aussie white. Really fruity, clean, crisp and refreshing.

Emiliana Sauvignon Blanc 2007 Fabulous up front fruit of grapefruit & gooseberry with a classic nettly nose. Organically farmed.

Ancora Pinot Grigio 2007 IGT Pavia Hand harvested & gently pressed to retain fresh fruit, less stirred for weight & texture.

Crowded House Sauvignon Blanc 2007 Pure & vivid gooseberry, kiwi & passionfruit, balanced by a full & refreshing palate.

Reds

Jackson Red Hill South Shiraz Medium bodied with stewed black cherries and plums a touch of pepper, earthy spice and velvety tannins.

Borsao Garnacha Tinto Really sweet strawberry & cherry fruit with a big mouthfeel & dry finish - a great glugger!

Emiliana Merlot Blackberry, plum, cherry, pepper, herbs, violets, chocolate & mocha- wow! Organically farmed.

Convivio Montepulciano d’ Abruzzo 2005 Roasted coffee beans & cherries lead into a full bodied & silky wine with bramble & currant fruit & savoury spice.

Nostros Reserva Pinot Noir Red & blackcurrant aromas with a pure fruited, concentrated soft palate with just enough acidity & spice to show you its owed respect.

Gumprs Shiraz It doesn’t complain about some blatant warming on a cold day and goes particularly well with your feet up in front of the TV!Château Rousseau de Sipian Cru Bourgeois 2000 Smooth and supple with complex aromas and flavours. This British owned Château is for sale elsewhere at £15! Grab it whilst you can.

Vega del Rayo Rioja Reserva 2001 Plums & wild blackberry with hints of vanilla & brown spices from lots of Mazuelo & Graciano only possible in great vintages like 2001.

Rive Barbera 2006 Vibrant aromas of black cherries & prunes with chocolate & toasty oak undertones.

Roses

Borsao Garnache Rosado Delicate pink colour, with aromas of strawberry jam. Off-dry and easy going, with soft red fruit on the palate and balanced acidity.

Ancora Pinot Grigio Rose Dry & fruity with sweet red berries & cherries. No blush nonsense,this is full on proper rosé due to a large dollop of Pinot Noir – sshhh!

Champagne & Fizz

Leconfield SYN Blonde bubbly. Elegant soft fruit palate in a dry style with a clean finish.

Taltarni Sparkling Brut Tache “Tache is a basque & stockings in a glass” Sexy subtle pink vintage fizz.

Champagne Lallier Grand Cru Pinot Noir dominated, big & complex, cellars older than neighbour Bolly & Grand Cru. Rated 100/100- a bargain!

Dessert Wine

Moscato Passito 'Palazzina' Dessert Muscat with flavours of dried apricots and figs. Perfect with our fruit aplatter & cake.

We also stock Ampleforth Cider - made by Father Reiner and his team at Ampleforth Abbey. One for the connoisseurs - slightly sparkling and much stronger than ordinary cider, it contains live yeast - so be careful how you open it!
